Welcome to my website, where stories bloom

In my earlier years, during the final days of the summer reading program at a local public library, I proudly (and a bit embarrassingly) towered over my peers as one of the oldest kids participating. Books were magical! Those years were some of the most vivid times in my life. I wrote books and music lyrics in elementary school and jr. high while enthusiastically encouraging friends to sing the songs with me. (Some of my best friends can still sing “Rainbows” word for word, today!)

My respect for well-crafted stories grew — on our high school newspaper, in journalism/communications in college and grad school (writing for the Daily Bruin at UCLA,) working with Reading by 9 at the Los Angeles Times, and even now, as I write for children, newspapers, and magazines.

Stories may serve as an escape from the mundane or a refuge from painful realities in life. Sometimes they’re used to teach and other times, for pure entertainment. Whatever the initial draw, truly great stories bring us back, linger in the soul, mold who we are, or encourage us to be the people God created us to be. And for me, stories for youth especially, can be deeply profound, moving, and yes, FUN beyond what my adult mind must linger on.

So join me here (on instagram, twitter, facebook… @annsukwang) and enjoy a good story.

I grumbled about being asked to greet at Gateway on Christmas Eve, but little did I know it would allow me to reconnect with you, making it all worth while and truly a blessing! I know it was in God’s plan & once again remind myself that He works in mysterious ways and with purpose for His good & mine!

I’ve been following the progress since April 2023. I’m so happy for your launch of the new book! We met at the airport in SanFran as we had both been sitting in the “tea cup” shaped swivel chairs. I believe you were on your way home from Japan!

I pre-ordered from Once Upon A Time bookstore (2207 Honolulu Ave, Montrose 91020), and I’m looking forward to sharing the book with my kids. Thanks in advance for the autograph and free swag!
