Last week, July 7, 2023, I got the email from my editor that my “cover is up!” This new author was like, “Yay, I can finally tell my friends.” Yesterday night, I realized “Nope, it’s MORE than that!” I tried to Google my title and my name and to my surprise… it is UP, I mean out there “everywhere,” (Amazon, Target, Walmart, Good Reads…) ready to preorder and review! My excitement turned to nerves.

Why did I hold back for a week? Well, for starters, I clearly didn’t know what “book is up” meant. (Ultimate newbie here!) Second, it’s about 8 months before the physical copy starts rolling out on March 12, 2024! We have time, right? Nope again. All that I had been preparing for years, goes into play NOW. And like labor in childbirth, this baby is going to take some WORK to get out there! That’s why I said in the title, “Here WE Go!” Bear with me a bit here for some background (the “how you can help” call is at the end)…

It’s hard to believe, surreal even to finally see your firstborn book coming to life after three and a half years (and trying for 8 years before that!) It’s been a relatively LONG time, working, waiting, and hoping, wondering if any of it was worth it. And I can genuinely say, the only reason I kept going was because — “success” in the worldly sense didn’t matter. Writing for me was/is clarity, comfort and life itself. I had to do it!

So now, about 8 months before my publish date of March 12, 2024, seeing the book jacket in it’s final form makes a dream feel more real than ever.

Thank you for following and coming on this journey with me! Every “like” and comment encourages and propels me toward excellence, not just for myself, but for the sake of my readers, for you and for all children who deserve the best literature!

What I do is a genuine privilege and honor. I take it seriously because it’s what I believe I’ve been called to do. And as long as people give me the chance, I will happily create. With this baby step, revealing the jacket cover, I prayerfully hope many more will follow.

But unlike writing for yourself which is life-giving in itself, stepping into the publishing world brings with it some responsibilities. My team: illustrator, publisher, editor, agent… believed in the book enough to put their heft behind it. Now I have to believe that the world will be a better place with this story in it — enough for my part to push it out (even if social media and promotion is not “fun” or comfortable for me.)
